Grants
Grant support the highest-priority funding needs among qualified organizations.
Contributions from donors enable grant distributions which support cost-effective funding for qualified organizations.
We use the latest data available to ensure we are granting funds to organizations we believe have been, and currently are, doing the most good in helping improve lives, households, and/or communities.
How we make decision on Grants
We grant funds from contributions to approved organizations on an ongoing and rolling basis throughout the year. We support and ongoing portfolio of organizations who went through a rigorous application and qualification process to meet our standards to receive grant awards.
Our Research and Verification Team decides each quarter which, if any, new organizations who have recently applied to receive funds have a qualifying need which aligns not only with our mission but also exhibits properties which make them a suitable organization for others. When we consider an organization, not only do we review its length of existence, history of performance, operations, and leadership, we also take into consideration an organization's grant needs and use factors such as:
What you can expect when you contribute
100% of each contribution (minus any fees charged by the processor) we receive is granted directly to the organizations our Research and Verification Team has previously qualified and approved for grant funds.
When we receive a contribution, it is elevated into a grant fund, made eligible for distribution, approved for utilization, and distributed to the grant recipient(s), which occurs typically within 15 days.
The impact of Grants
In December of each year our board identifies priorities for the upcoming year, and which organizations will be eligible for grant funds.
The board also assess the estimates of the impact of grants from the year previous, the current year, and upcoming year. For example, this calendar year we will grant over 95% of contributions to organizations we've verified as those working directly on our top support initiatives: improving lifestyles, improving households and/or improving communities, or directly developing or working on process(es), property(s), or system(s) supporting such initiatives.
The average range of contributions from donors varies widely, and our most data report showed that for every $537 in contributions we receive and grant to the organizations we support, it:
If such a low donation of $537 seems surprisingly inexpensive to positively and directly impact seven households, you're right, which is why the organizations our Research and Verification Team qualifies for grants are of absolute critical importance, in our opinion.
Recipients of grants
We converge grant data and organization impact data into reports for our board to review effectiveness, annually.
Through a pilot study in March of 2023, we found that publishing data on the impact of the grants we funded to organizations is beneficial for the general public's knowledge. We also learned donors appreciate reviewing the data on how their contributions are making a maximum impact.
In July of 2023 our board decided that data regarding the type of grant funded, and the total amount of grants funded to each type of organization we fund will be made accessible upon request the following tax year after the grant funds have been utilized by each type of organization we've funded. Formerly, data such as this was planned to continue to be provided only to the IRS and other entities, to maintain reporting requirements.

The average range of contributions from donors varies widely, and our most data report showed that for every $537 in contributions we receive and grant to the organizations we support, it:
- creates an immediate positive impact on at least five households within twenty days of when the grant was contributed by the donor(s), which also according to the data, generates our highest ranking, most impactful organizations
- creates a positive impact on two additional households within thirty days
If such a low donation of $537 seems surprisingly inexpensive to positively and directly impact seven households, you're right, which is why the organizations our Research and Verification Team qualifies for grants are of absolute critical importance, in our opinion.
